Some of the most visited monasteries are Rumtek, Pemayangtse and Tashiding. Rumtek monastery is a repository of countless invaluable articles like precious metal statues, germ studded cenotaphs and exotic ritualistic paraphernalia stacked within its cavernous portals. Apart from these monasteries holds many festivals, particularly in the months of February/March.
